Zuhdi TKOs Reis and retains WBU World Championship.
Before a standing room only, packed house, WBU World Lightweight Champion Noah Zuhdi (18-1, 14 KOs), Oklahoma City, OK, USA, retained his world title on Friday, June 6, 2014, in Oklahoma City defeating Eduardo Pereira dos Reis (13-2, 8 KOs), Sao Paulo, Brazil by TKO in the 4th round. Reis did not answer the bell for the 5th round. In the 4th round, Zuhdi connected with several uppercuts and powerful right hands and left hooks which left a lasting impact, inflicting a punishing body attack on the game Reis which zapped the strength and will out of him. In the early rounds, Zuhdi connected with numerous jabs and combinations. Reis had his moments but Zuhdi was too strong for him and dominated every round. The stoppage was only Reis's second loss in 15 fights.
Don "Moose" Lewis, Chairman of the WBU, said Zuhdi was "one of the hardest hitting lightweights in the world" and that "Oklahoma City has a great sports franchise in town, and that franchise is WBU World Lightweight Champion Noah Zuhdi".
The event was promoted by catBOX Entertainment and hosted by Oklahoma City's newest and best outdoor venue, the OKC Downtown Airpark. WBU World Champion Zuhdi is signed with catBOX Entertainment.
On the undercard in an exciting bout, super middleweight Bo Gibbs, Jr. (11-0, 6 KOs), also a catBOX fighter, defeated David Lujan (4-1, 1 KO), from Wichita, Kansas, by unanimous decision after six grueling rounds. Boxing veteran Terry Butterbaugh (10-10, 4 KOs), Colorado Springs, CO, lost to long time amateur turned pro Anthony Hill by majority decision in a fight that could have easily been called either way. Joe Blurton, pro debut, was knocked out by Tolu Aguibaide, pro debut, in the second round. Raquel Vidal (1-2) won by TKO over Akasha Adams in the second round (0-2).

Noah Zuhdi Blasts Vajda in Two, Retains Title

In front of a packed house last night at the Lucky Star Casino in Oklahoma, WBU Lightweight Champion Noah Zuhdi did not disappoint in the partisan crowd as he knocked out clever counter-puncher Gyula Vajda in the second round to defend his championship.
Zuhdi (17-1, 13 KOs) came out strong and Vajda (12-4, 8 KOs), came out stubborn in the first stanza. In a lightening quick exchange in the center of the ring, Zuhdi followed up a jab with a thudding straight right, right as Vajda was trying to counter. The flash knockdown seemed to only wake the Hungarian up, however. Vajda began fighting at a heightened sense and temporarily stunned Zuhdi with a counter left that the champion described as "the second hardest I've ever been hit with."
Dickie Wood (PICTURED LEFT), Zuhdi's trainer, explained afterward, "He just got away from the gameplan. That's all it was. He wasn't moving around enough. I did my best to set him straight and get him back on the right page, the gameplan. And he did." READ MORE
